Keystone, Fl Homes for Sale

The earliest known settlers recorded in the Keystone Park Colony area established homesteads during the late 1860s, as such there are a number of historic homes in Keystone Park. The name of the community originated from its early settlers, most having migrated from the “Keystone State” of Pennsylvania. One of the more interesting aspects of the area’s history is that the Keystone Post Office served as the primary disinfectant point for letters sent to Clearwater/Tampa Bay area during the yellow fever epidemic of the 1880s. Though much of Keystone remained rural until the 1970s, the area experienced a rapid transformation in recent decades due to encroaching development and thus the expansion of Keystone real estate. The current low zoning density allows for fewer homes per acre, increasing values and limiting the possibility of over development.

Charming neighborhoods have been developed in this region of Hillsborough County which is dotted by many lakes and surrounded by lush woodlands. Prominent homes as well as country retreats situated on vast waterfront lots populate this serene, natural setting. Some residents take advantage of the rural atmosphere of maintaining stables and paddock areas in conjunction with their Keystone, FL home. Water skiing is popular on many of the larger lakes while the multitude of smaller lakes provides a refreshing view and dip. The Lake Keystone Region is a peaceful haven, offering a delightful alternative to the bustle of hectic cities.
