Lithia is a small community with a rich history in agriculture, saw mills, and phosphate mining. The area’s first Anglo settlers were James and Roxanna Alderman who homesteaded 80 acres. Originally named Pelot after a Methodist preacher, the name was changed to Lithia after the discovery of a high concentration of the mineral lithium in an area spring.
